Canon is one of the most popular brand of cameras out there, and for good reason. They have a range of models that sell from below $100 up to several thousand dollars. With the majority of those models below $300, and quite a few of those below $150. Of course, if your willing to go used with your digital camera purchase, then you’ll spend even less money. If your looking at used, be sure you stick with a reputable dealer either online or offline.

Don’t just consider the initial purchase price with your camera either. Buying a cheap Canon camera is one thing, but there’s an operation cost to be considered with any digital camera. Lots of megapixels may make for sharper resolution images, but they also take up more space on your memory cards and your computer. Memory cards (SD / CF) and hard drives are not cheap. The bigger they are, the more expensive they get. Try to buy a digital camera with no more than 7 megapixels. 5 or 6 would be better.

Another thing to consider, is LCD screen size. A lot of digital cameras have 2.5 or 3 inch LCD screens. Nice for viewing, but also guaranteed to chew through batteries like crazy. If you look around a bit, you should be able to find some models with a 2 inch screen. The inexpensive Canon PowerShot A460 or S30 are still around, and both have smaller screen sizes. An alternative, would be to find a lower priced NiMH battery pack and charger. Don’t buy the charger the camera shop salesman will try to up sell you on, as they’re generally more expensive than then same product at a discount store.

In the spirit of saving batteries, and keeping your costs down, make sure your camera has an optical viewfinder. That way, you don’t have to use the LCD screen all the time. Many LCD screens don’t work well outside in bright sunlight anyway. A lot of digital cameras these days (especially the least expensive) exclude the viewfinder.

In order to get better results, it is recommended that you use the stop-down metering mode with the older Canon FL lenses. The mirror can also be locked up for long exposures in order to avoid the camera shake.

Canon digital cameras problems exist in every Canon camera, but that is typical of any camera from any manufacturer. Canon has had some issues with the EOS 5D because of poor color as well as the inability for the camera to handle dark and light images in one picture. Not everyone reports this problem, but some users were not happy with this problem.

Another problem includes the EOS 1D Mark III, which is said to have some flaws in focusing. Another reported problem is the weight of some of the cameras. Although most of the Canon cameras are lightweight, some are a little heavier because of the design or the battery used.

Canon also issued a statement back in 2005 stating that some of the CCDs that were used caused images to become distorted or not visible. This problem comes from the wiring becoming undone because of humidity and high heat. This problem affected the Digital IXUS II, V3 and the PowerShot A310, A75, A60, A300 and the A70 digital cameras. Free repairs were made for people that experienced these problems. This problem has since been corrected and is no longer a problem for Canon camera users.

Canon digital cameras problems are far and in between. Most of the problems found with Canon cameras were found to be user error more so than an error found the camera itself. There are many reviews for all Canon cameras. They do not present any serious problems that cannot be corrected by adjusting the settings on the camera menu.

Canon digital cameras problems also include the price. Many people have found some of the prices a bit steep for Canon cameras. This is to be expected though for a high quality camera. The Canon EOS-1Ds Mark III and EOS-1D Mark III have some of the finest features, but the IDs Mark III is a 21.1 megapixel full frame SLR digital camera while the ID Mark III is a 10.1 megapixel SLR digital camera. The best camera for megapixels and resolution is the Canon EOS 5D.

The Digital Rebel XTi and the Digital Rebel XT SLR cameras are comparable in price, but for the features and megapixels, they are very different. The XTi provides 10.1 megapixels while the XT has 8 megapixels. The XT does have a DIGIC II image processor but so does the XTi. The frame burst is different on each with the XT 14 and the XTi having 27. The best camera for the Canon Rebel is the Canon Rebel XTi.

1) Warm Up Tones

Many of us notice that our pictures sometimes have a cool feeling to them. This is because the default setting for white balance is usually auto. This is not bad, but tends to create photos that look a bit as you would say “cool”.

If you are shooting outdoor pictures, in a sunny environment, you should probably change your white balance to cloudy. This will case the camera to increase the red and yellow, which will result in a brighter, warmer fina, photo.

2) Sunglasses Polarizer

Using a polarizing filter will really give your pictures a better look. Polarizing filters are generally used for landscapes and outdoor photography. Polarized shots reduce glare and reflections, causing more saturated pictures (this is especially the case for photos of the sky).

Now, many cameras do not have the ability to have a filter. If this is the case, no worries, Have a good pair of sunglasses handy, and you can use these as a replacement for the filter. Sounds dumb, but it works! Trust me, I’ve tried it.

3) Making Your Outdoor Photos Shine

One of the best features that many of us are not aware of is the flash on mode. This allows you to take control of the flash, thus it will only go on when you want it to, rather than when the camera decides to.

In this mode, the camera will expose the background, then it will add the right amount of flash to light up the subject. This will create a very professional looking picture. Everything will look good, and this is why many wedding photographers have been using this technique for a long time. It will take a bit of practice to get it right, but it is worth it!
